This summer, Thurrock Libraries invite children to discover the joy of reading through Read to the Beat! - the music-themed Summer Reading Challenge 2026. (https://libraries.thurrock.gov.uk/library-news/Summer%20Reading%20Challenge)
Children can sign up at the library from Saturday 11 July set their own reading goals, and enjoy rewards along the way.
The Summer Reading Challenge is FREE and open to children of all ages - from babies and toddlers to primary ages and beyond to teens. Parents and carers can share books with babies as part of the mini challenge whilst the main challenge is aimed at school-aged children.
Please note the Summer Reading Challenge normally runs when the library is open and staffed. Please check the library opening times (https://libraries.thurrock.gov.uk/digital-content/find-a-library)if unsure.

The Local Area Co-ordination drop ins aim to support adults 18+ in leading fulfilling lives by connecting them with local resources and community networks.
The individual must live in Thurrock to receive Local Area Co-ordination support. Rather than offering formal care, they ask individuals what a good life looks like to them and guide them in finding local support to achieve it.
Please note dates and times are subject to change due to annual leave / sick leave or training.
